Overview:
Release Manager needed to join a team working to create software and solutions for basic HR functions to cut costs, increase efficiency and provide better customer support surrounding human resources. Three major efforts will be the core focus of this project: HR Shared Service Centers, HR standards and solutions and the migration to shared-services for the provision of HR systems and services. Our team will provide SDLC project management, technical management and implementation support.

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Release Manager include but are not limited to the following:
  • Interface and communicate with the various team members on a daily basis to track updates for providing reporting to the Senior Management team.
  • Own the responsibilities of scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases across the enterprise for multiple applications.
  • Implementing and the management of the release processes for code through development, test and production.
  • Assess the current environment processes and practices and provide suggestions for improvements in regards to building, deploying and updating software.
  • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect the release scope, schedule and quality.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or other related technical discipline AND 10 years of experience with software related projects; 8 years of additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree OR a Master's Degree in similar discipline area or Business Management.
  • 10 yrs. experience in the management of individual releases of software, hardware or other system components.
  • 10 yrs. experience coordinating QA, Development, packaging and hardware teams.
  • 10 yrs. experience in documenting releases, risks and in maintaining the schedule of planned releases.
  • Experience working on an enterprise wide HRIS implementation project.
  • Experienced in developing scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate and deploy software releases.
  • Prior experience with identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Experienced at communicating key project plans, commitments and changes including requirements, QA plants, schedule and scope changes.
  • Prior experience in creating, negotiating, planning and managing the release schedule for all core services and activities.
  • Experienced working in an Agile environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Desired/Preferred Skills:
  • Government agency contracting experience; VA preferred (VHA/VBA).
  • HR Smart or other enterprise HRIS system.
Travel Requirements:
  • Minimal travel to attend program-related meetings, conferences and/or testing throughout the project term.
